Testimonials

“Frogmans, you are where my heart is. Thanks for always providing me with an inspiring, extremely educational and memorable experience with all the amazingly talented and super fun printmakers you attract. See you all next year!!”
Ashton Ludden – MFA, University of Tennessee

“Frogman’s was a truly life-changing experience; I can hardly wait to tell all about. . . the wonderful adventures and amazing things I learned. I’m so glad and appreciative that you work so hard to put on this workshop and create a space that is educational, fruitful, and socially enriching. I love how printmaking unifies artists, and Frogman’s embodies everything I love about printmaking. Thank you again, and I’ll see you next year!”
Linda Santana – Printmaking Coordinator, Idyllwild Arts Foundation

“Your program introduced me to a new community of beautiful, creative, and inspiring people; Frogman’s tops any summer I’ve ever had!”
Sarah Heyward – Assistant Professor, University of New Mexico

“Frogman’s was AMAZING. I can’t believe how much I learned in that one week! I met so many fantastic people and had a lot of fun. If I die and go to heaven it will be Frogman’s.”
Laura Grossett, Lecturer, Front Range Community College

“I did more than learn a new printmaking technique . . . this summer. I created relationships with kindred spirits and was inspired to continue on my printed path with more confidence and enthusiasm.”
Jordan Thornton – MS, Augusta University

“I had a blast, learned stuff I can use for the rest of my life, and I don’t think anything could keep me away next year. I’m telling all my print-leaning pals . . . how great the experience was. It was great meeting everybody and I’ll see you next year.”
Emmy Lingscheit – Associate Professor, University of Illinois

“Frogman’s was the most memorable and intense weeks of teaching I have ever been engaged in. The students and other faculty and the constant array of activities as well as the culminating ‘awards’ banquet will always stand out in my mind.”
Sydney Cross – Professor Emerita, Clemson University

“I have taught many workshops, but Frogman’s is the best organized and most dedicated to promoting printmaking and the teaching of printmaking. The instructor’s show, the slide lectures, the exchange portfolio, the fund-raising prints, the dedicated assistants, the bowling, you made every minute count. Thank you for a great experience, it was really inspiring.”
April Vollmer – Artist and Lecturer, Santa Cruz

“Frogman’s Workshops are an accessible-and affordable-place for emerging printmakers to see “their kind” at work. . . . It was unique to be among so many printmakers and peers, and this immersion into a printmaking stew of know-how, info, and endurance is one of the main attractions. The daily feel of the workshop was directed, purposeful, persistent, with curiosity and sharing; everyone working in a concentrated frame of mind under the direction of accomplished and excited teachers. We enjoyed a full schedule of evening activities that have reached legendary proportions: introductory mixer, bowling party, and costume ball. These party instincts have been right-on in breaking the ice and cementing friendships for a lasting sense of community.”
Karen Kunc – Professor Emerita, University of Nebraska at Lincoln

Frogman’s will reward the college or university that shows the strongest commitment to Frogman’s Print Workshops. The school whose participants attend the most workshops in 2024 will receive two free workshops ($1,900.00 total) in 2025. The winning school’s participants must attend at least ten paid workshops. Each session attended is equal to one workshop. Therefore, if five students and / or faculty each attend two sessions, then that school’s participants have attended a total of ten workshops. If seven students and / or faculty each attend one session, then that school’s participants have attended seven workshops. After winning the scholarships, the winning school will have to wait for two years before being eligible again for the participation scholarships. Previous winners include College of the Sequoias, Colorado Mesa University, Indiana University Southeast, Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, University of Alabama at Huntsville, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, University of North Texas, University of South Dakota, University of Tennessee, and the University of Tulsa.

Additional Student Scholarships / Faculty Grants

Many colleges and universities across the country have acknowledged this workshop as an extremely vital part of students’ education, so much so that they offer scholarships for their students to attend. Students interested in applying for a scholarship from their school should contact their department chairperson. Each school determines the amount offered, the number of awards and organizes their own selection process.

Most colleges and universities offer grants to their faculty for research purposes, such as workshops. More and more faculty are becoming aware of the importance of being involved in this event and each year the number attending increases. Each school determines the amount offered. We have been impressed by faculty who have not only sent students to the workshop, but have attended as a participant right alongside them. This commitment to education strengthens our belief in the dedication of artists as educators. The presence of college and university faculty adds to the professionalism and quality of the workshop.

Below is an abbreviated list of colleges, universities, institutions and other organizations that have financially assisted students and faculty so that they may attend Frogman’s. Thank you for your recognition and support!
